Chalke Talk 62: Does belief have anything to do with faith?

Following last week’s Chalke Talk, Steve asks what does a person who places their ‘faith’ rather than their ‘belief’ in Christ actually look like?

Steve is prompted to ask this question as he reflects on the many conversations he’s had with very accomplished people who are constantly thinking about how they want their life to be in material terms but rarely about what type of person they want to become. After spelling out how this problem has manifested in society, Steve suggests, “I think that the Church has made a huge mistake. It has somehow turned ‘being a Christian’ into an academic pursuit – where faith has been swopped for ‘belief’ and ‘belief’ has come to mean little more than the intellectual assent to a set of doctrines and rigid views. “

So what do you think?

When Jesus said ‘Follow me’, what do you think he had in mind?

Or, to put it differently, what does a person who places their ‘faith’ rather than their ‘belief’ in Christ actually look like?
