Chalke Talk 93: Is Heaven a place on Earth?

As the song goes “Ooo, Heaven is a place on earth!” But aside from 80’s classic, is this actually a fundamental theological point?

Steve reflects how he’s often asked: “If everyone gets to go to heaven, what’s the point of being a Christian?” Our problem, Steve explains is “we’ve slipped into mistakenly believing that ‘heaven’ is somewhere other than here – and that it’s a destination beyond death reserved for true ‘believers.’

But, as he explains, this is again an issue of our misinterpretation: our assumptions mixed with the fact we haven’t taken the full context, at which these words were being written, into account.

So after watching the video, how would YOU answer the question? If everyone gets to go to heaven, what’s the point of being a Christian?’
