Chalke Talk

500 years ago, Martin Luther famously nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Chapel. They were his observations and questions; his critique of the Church that he felt had become institutionalised and was failing to adapt to the world around it. It is considered one of the seminal moments of the reformation. But the job is not done. We must continue to reform: to ask how we can be more Christlike, where our grace falls short of God’s, and where our attitudes fail to reflect Christ’s great rule; love. In this great tradition, Steve Chalke is posting 95 questions - one each week - for the Church that must continue to reform.

The Lost Message of Paul

The ‘Lost Message of Paul’ is Steve Chalke’s new book. In it, he suggests that we have wrenched Paul out of his original context and misunderstood one of the most influential and important followers of Christ. To accompany the book, Steve has produced a set of videos and discussion starters, ideal for small groups and churches.

The Gender & Sexuality

For too long the Church has failed to offer radical and Christ-like support, acceptance and inclusion to transgender people. If we are to heal the hurt we have caused, we must own our mistakes and reexamine our interpretation of scripture, which often restricts our understanding of Christ’s love. Being Human

It's easy to sleepwalk through life without ever really considering what we're here for. But life presents us with continual opportunities to wake up - and to think about not just what we do with our lives, but who we become while living them. Ultimately it is the story that we believe about ourselves, our lives and the world around us that will shape us - for better or for worse. So where do we find a good story - a convincing narrative that makes sense of it all? Being Human explores the fullness of life, through the imitation of Christ.

Understanding the Bible

When we talk about sexuality, how we can become fully human, or explore what Paul’s message means for the Church today; we are really asking ‘How can we better understand the Bible?’

The Bible is a collection of writings separated by culture, language, politics, and time. If we are to take it seriously or attempt to stand firmly in its great truths, we must ask of it, and ourselves, deep, open and honest questions. How could the testimony of God, who is love, provide justification for slavery or the apartheid, discrimination against women or people with different orientation be it political or sexual? How we understand the Bible is critical to how we imitate Christ.
