It's easy to sleepwalk through life without ever really considering what we're here for. But life presents us with continual opportunities to wake up - and to think about not just what we do with our lives, but who we become while living them. Being Human will provide a series of resources for use in churches, schools and other community groups that will help us to become the best version of our selves, to reach our full God-given potential in life.

Being Human

It's easy to sleepwalk through life without ever really considering what we're here for. But life presents us with continual opportunities to wake up - and to think about not just what we do with our lives, but who we become while living them. Ultimately it is the story that we believe about ourselves, our lives and the world around us that will shape us - for better or for worse. So where do we find a good story - a convincing narrative that makes sense of it all?

We hope that, within the Being Human section of this website, you'll find resources that can help you to be more human. To know who you truly are and what you are becoming. To be the best possible version of yourself. To better love God and to better love your neighbour as you love yourself.

"Most of the time, most of us find ourselves immersed in the mundane, preoccupied with getting by, anxious about deadlines; there are bills to pay, emails to write, phone calls to make and trains to catch. We're racing through life but falling asleep on the inside. However, every now and then - perhaps over a meal or a drink with a friend of many years; or disturbed by a long, sleepless night; or watching the sun set over the sea; or faced with a personal difficulty or family tragedy; or gazing up at the moon and contless stars on a clear cummer's night - we momentarily glimpse something bigger, something bolder and more fulfilling". (Steve Chalke, Being Human, 2015).

This online video resource for individuals and small groups is based on Being Human, the book by Steve Chalke that was published in 2015 and which explores what it is to be fully human.

The online resources are split into four sections, which can be covered in four distinct sessions:

  • Love Yourself    Video    Leader's Notes
  • Love Others
  • Love God
  • Love God and Love Your Neighbour As Yourself - Implications for Church

Each week will include a video resource, split into two sections, together with a leader's resource which will help you to guide a discussion within the group. We'll be publishing each of those resources over the coming weeks.

We hope that you'll enjoy these materials and that you'll share them with people you know. And do please let us know what you think.
